Yoga

As a resource to help us all through the Covid19 pandemic here is a 20 minute guided Yoga Nidra

Yoga is one of the great gifts available to us all.

We may come to Yoga in order to increase our fitness, our flexibility or our strength, either mental or physical. Perhaps we come to yoga to reduce stress, cope with stress, learn how to relax, learn how to breathe or practice meditation. Perhaps we want to grow spiritually, improve our self confidence or improve our relationships.Whatever our initial motivation, with commitment and practice, we find that Yoga can support us to achieve all the above. Yoga is not a religion, but is a practical philosophy for increasing physical, emotional and spiritual health.  There are some Home Practices for you to experiment with. These practices assume you are familiar with yoga asanas.

I hold open classes, suitable for all levels of experience and fitness, in Bridgetown WA . I also teach classes at Swanbourne beach in Perth some weekends in the Summer months.

I believe that Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level or gender. These pictures are of two of my students, one in his twenties, one in her eighties, practicing child’s pose together. Don’t panic if the idea of working with a partner doesn’t sit well with you! I encourage my yoga students to listen to their own inner wisdom – physical, mental and emotional. I suggest poses and you make your own choices. Yoga is all about breathing and smiling.

Each of my classes is designed to provide a well rounded physical mix of poses, breathing techniques and relaxation. In addition, each class has a sankalpa (an intention or focus.) For example, at the time of the waxing moon we may focus on expanding the heart centre, practising poses which expand the chest and open the shoulders, and our guided relaxation or meditation will draw our attention to giving and receiving from the heart.
